A patient is considered to have cancer of unknown primary when a tumor is detected at one or more metastatic sites and routine evaluation fails to identify the primary site. CUP is divided into favourable and unfavourable types. The unfavourable CUPs accounts for the 80% of CUP tumors and have the worse prognosis.
