BIOGRAPHY

Nicholas Pavlidis born in 1949 obtained his degree in Medicine at the University of Athens in 1973. After his Internal Medicine training in Athens, he worked as a Fellow at the National Cancer Institutes in USA (1977-1980) and at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in London (1982-1983). He served as Chairman of ESMO Guidelines Committee (2006-2011) and Chairman of ESMO-ASCO Global Curriculum Task for Medical Oncology (2011-2014).

In 1986 he was elected Professor at the University of Ioannina, Greece and retired in 2016. Between 2016 and 2017 he also served the position of Acting Dean at the National University of Cyprus. Since 2019 he became the Dean of the European School of Oncology College (ESCO) and in 2023 the Chairman of the European School of Oncology [https://www.oncopedia.wiki/cancer-organisations/eso] Advisory Board. Since early 1990’s one of his scientific research interest was the topic of Cancer of Unknown Primary (95 relevant articles were published).
