BIOGRAPHY

Prof. Dr. Castiglione completed in Bern her specialization in internal medicine, after which she switched to medical oncology and joined the IBCSG.

Starting from 1986, she coordinated some of the most important trials for the group, also taking care of the administrative duties.

Castiglione was CEO of the IBCSG until 2008, but also Head of Onco-Gynecology and Director of the Breast Center at the University Hospital in Geneva until 2014. She was the first woman to become full Professor of Oncology in Switzerland.

She is a member of the Independent Data and Safety Monitoring Committee German Breast Group of Frankfurt. Additionally, she is former member of the Swiss Red Cross committee and member of the committee of Europa Donna Switzerland (the European Breast Cancer Coalition).
