BIOGRAPHY

Matteo Lambertini is a medical oncologist and associate professor at the San Martino Polyclinic Hospital and University of Genoa, in Italy.

He has been interested in the study of breast cancer in young women and the issues related to fertility and pregnancy, since his PhD at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Belgium. After this experience, he started working in the group of Lucia Del Mastro at the Polyclinic San Martino Hospital and University of Genoa, studying the role of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists during chemotherapy to preserve ovarian function and fertility in early young patients with breast cancer.

Matteo Lambertini is now a reference in this field of study, and a member of the guideline group on fertility preservation in cancer patients for the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM).
