BIOGRAPHY

Jean Papillon, a French radiation oncologist, was instrumental in establishing radiotherapy for non -operative treatment of rectal cancer.

In the 1960s, he pioneered Contact X-Ray Brachytherapy (CXB), delivering high-dose radiation directly to tumors through an endocavitary approach. His innovative technique achieved high rates of local control and laid the foundation for organ preservation strategies.
