BIOGRAPHY

Federico Arcamone (1928-2019) obtained his degree in chemistry at Pisa University in 1951. In 1952, he obtained the Diplôme d’études supérieures de sciences physiques. He then worked in Farmitalia, studying the therapeutic potential of anti-tumor compounds from soil-based microbes. He was the leader of the group that discovered adriamycin in 1969 in the Farmitalia laboratories. In 1987 Federico Arcamone left Farmitalia and became President of the Menarini Ricerche Sud.
