European Association for Palliative Care
OVERVIEW
Established in 1988, The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) is a membership organisation committed to supporting the promotion and development of palliative care throughout Europe and beyond.
Recognised by the Council of Europe, EAPC aims to speak with ‘one voice and one vision’ on matters that are important in palliative care. To do so, it recognises the definition of palliative care set out by the World Health Organisation. Respectful of the cultural and political diversity of our members, the EAPC provides a forum for all of those either working or with an interest in palliative care.
EAPC works in close collaboration with our members, research partners and other European and international agencies. Through our significant networks, we advocate, anticipate and proactively shape EU health and research policies on palliative care issues. We raise awareness about palliative care and the value and benefits it can have for individuals, healthcare services and communities.
The EAPC represents and is open to members from associations and individuals in Europe and throughout the world. Members are engaged in palliative care across the lifespan from a range of perspectives: specialist and generalist clinical practice, professional groups, education, policy, and research.
